Department:Fleet Maintenance

Reports To:Shop Supervisor / Lead Mechanic

Position Summary

The Fleet Maintenance Associate assists with inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on diesel trucks and heavy equipment. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals looking to start or grow a career in fleet maintenance, working under the direction of experienced technicians and shop leadership.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the inspection of brake systems, engines, emissions, steering, and wheel assemblies to ensure safe operation.
  • Perform basic preventive maintenance (PM) including oil, tire, and brake services.
  • Participate in training and development programs to build mechanical skills.
  • Support DOT, PM, and brake/safety inspections under supervision.
  • Complete assigned work orders and maintain accurate repair documentation.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of hydraulic systems.

Education, Training & Experience:

  • 2 – 3 years of related mechanical or technician experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and federal safety regulations.
  • Ability to use diagnostic tools and basic computer systems.
  • CDL Class A or B preferred, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • ASE certifications a plus; ongoing certification encouraged.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in various shop conditions.
