Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Cytotechnologist to join a dynamic pathology team in Charlottesville, VA. In this role, you will be responsible for the microscopic screening and evaluation of cytologic specimens to detect cancer and other pathological conditions. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about precision and want to make a meaningful impact in patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough and accurate microscopic evaluation of gynecologic Pap tests using established cytomorphologic criteria.

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of non-gynecologic, fine needle aspiration, and consult cellular samples, correlating findings with clinical data.

  • Accurately record specimen and result data for all cases screened in the Beaker computer system.

  • Provide technical support for the fine needle aspiration (FNA) service.

  • Demonstrate compliance with laboratory quality assurance, safety, and regulatory standards.

  • Participate in the preparation, staining, and cover slipping of cytological specimens.

  • Contribute to general area-specific clinical support tasks as assigned.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of cytological diagnostic methods and participate in continual improvement initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support overall laboratory operations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's of Science Degree required.

  • Experience: No prior experience required—new grads welcome.

  • Licensure: CT (ASCP) certification or eligibility required (or equivalent under CLIA guidelines).

  • Shift: Day Shift; Monday - Friday
