The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; 3 days in office and 2 remote days with Wednesday and Thursday mandatory in office days. Employees must be able to report to the City of Roseville worksites when required.
The current opening is a regular, benefitted, and full-time position but the list may be utilized to fill future regular, temporary, or limited-term vacancies in the City for the duration of the list.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Business Systems Analyst I - This is the entry level class in the Business Systems Analyst series. This class is distinguished from the journey level by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters allocated to the journey level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or no directly related work experience. Employees work under general supervision while learning job tasks.
Business Systems Analyst II - This is the journey level class within the Business Systems Analyst series and is distinguished from the I level by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.
This class is distinguished from the Senior Business Systems Analyst in that latter performs the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes within this series including assigned responsibilities for major project and program areas and exercising technical and functional supervision.

SELECTION PROCESS:
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant's experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.
Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
Some positions require the clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check within 12 months of appointment. The City may appoint candidates to positions prior to clearing the extensive Police Department background check, and in those circumstances the candidate will be advised in advance that security access in the information technology systems will be limited to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is received, and if the candidate ultimately does not clear the PD background it will result in release from City service without appeal rights, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
