Role Description Support Specialist 1 (SS1) Support. We are looking for someone who is energetic, enthusiastic, and outgoing. They must be willing to take direction as well as be able to work independently, as assigned tasks will vary. ST will build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships. We are currently seeking a Support Engineer to add to our team. The Support Engineers’s responsibility will be to support physical network connections, image computers, and interface with vendors. This role will also require knowledge of cabling network racks and will require some repetitive tasks. They will operate as a point of contact for assigned tasks being the focal point to escalate and address the needs of the customer. Support Engineer monitors subtask activity, assigns and customer tickets, and works with xfn partners to ensure timely and successful delivery of support tickets and project implementations according to timeline and deliverables. Support Engineers Responsibilities: ● Work within Meta's task system ● First point of contact for break fix Engineers ● Work with xfn partners and vendors to support physical building network infrastructure. ● Responsible for assisting with projects (retrofits, new process documentation, etc.) ● Understand and debug hardware and Linux OS and Windows related issues. Minimum Qualifications: ● Datacenter knowledge ● Experience implementing technology. ● Ability to learn new technologies quickly. ● Strong computer skills especially with the Microsoft Office Suite. ● Strong/proactive work ethics ● Strong Oral and written communication skills ● Experience understanding and communicating technical information to non-experts. ● Must be able to type at least 50 wpm ● Ability to regularly lift 30lbs (computers and associated equipment) ● Ability to occasionally complete repetitive motion by lifting shoulder above head (testing cables in racks) ● Ability to provide own form of vehicle transportation to travel between support sites ● Ability to stretch arms to sort through cables ● Ability to utilize a step stool to reach cable trays and racks Preferred Qualifications: ● 2+ years experience in a research environment. ● 2+ years of experience in a data center or related field. ● Knowledge of Linux and server hardware support. ● Knowledge of networks and related hardware support. ● Must have basic knowledge of networking and troubleshooting ● Must have a background in testing physical ethernet connections.
