This is a paid internship at competitive rates. Memorial Day and 4th of July holidays are paid days off.

CNO Financial Group is hiring a Cyber Security Intern to work alongside our experienced Cyber Security associates, assisting with professional Cyber Security day-to-day work. The Cyber Security Intern will spend time with various teams in Security, including Operations, Engineering, and Governance.

What you can expect:

  • Exposure to enterprise cybersecurity operations and Security Operations Center functions.
  • Hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and technologies.
  • Mentorship from experienced cybersecurity professionals.
  • Practical experience supporting incident response and threat detection activities.
  • Opportunities to develop technical, analytical, and professional skills.
  • Experience working in a collaborative enterprise IT environment.

What you need (Minimum requirements):

  • Progress towards a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or related discipline.
  • Status as a rising junior or rising senior, approx. graduation dates of December 2027-June 2029.
  • Availability to work 40 hrs/week for 10-12 weeks during the summer.
  • Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours.
  • Basic understanding of information technology concepts, including networking and operating systems.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
  • Ability to analyze information and identify patterns or anomalies.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.

What will set you apart (Preferred experience):

  • Previous internship, work experience, or academic projects related to cybersecurity or information technology.
  • Familiarity with security concepts such as phishing, malware, endpoint security, authentication, and network security.
  • Experience with scripting or programming languages such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Participation in cybersecurity clubs, competitions, labs, or Capture-the-Flag (CTF) activities.
  • Pursuit of entry-level cybersecurity certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISC2 CC, or similar.
  • Balancing education and a part-time job during the school year.

The CNO 2027 internship program will run May 17 through August 06, 2027.
