Associate Scientist II

Pace Analytical Life Sciences, LLC is a premier Contract Research and Development Organization located in Woburn, MA providing pharmaceutical development services for biologics, nucleic acid therapeutics, small molecules and other biopharmaceutical drug candidates.

Summary

We seek a motivated Associate Scientist II with laboratory experience to conduct analytical testing and development experiments that support our client's effort to develop biologic and nucleic acid therapeutics. Our clients include biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from new startups to those with global operations. This individual will conduct analytical testing of samples using written procedures, support the development of new methods and assist in formulation and characterization endeavors. Competitive applicants will be able to demonstrate a knowledge of analytical methods for biopharmaceuticals, creative problem solving, an ability to collaborate in a cross-functional team and clearly communicate scientific results.

Compensation: $28.00 - 33.00 per hour

General Responsibilities:

  • Perform testing with good documentation practices using written methods and procedures
  • Execute development experiments, analyze data, write analytical test methods.
  • Present results and planned experiments clearly and concisely both verbally and in written reports.
  • Strive to meet agreed-upon timelines and regularly communicate progress to other stakeholders.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and other guidance documents as directed by management.
  • Maintain scientific instruments and troubleshoot problems as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized laboratory including shared benches, sample storage, etc.
  • Continuously improve technical skills and acquire knowledge specific to the pharmaceutical industry.

An Ideal Candidate will possess skills in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience using analytical instruments/methods such as chromatography (HPLC/UPLC), electrophoresis (CE, cIEF), spectroscopy (UV/Vis), bioassays and familiarity with mass spectrometry.
  • Experience using or developing methods to determine the identity, purity, and assay of drug substance and product samples.
  • Knowledge of the physical and chemical properties of biological polymers (e.g., proteins, RNA, DNA, lipids)
  • Understand the scientific principles of new analytical techniques as well as the hardware and software needed to operate scientific instruments.

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Education in chemistry, biochemistry, or closely related discipline and a Bachelors with 2 years of industry experience performing routine testing or developing analytical methods for biotherapeutics or nucleic acid therapeutics. A Masters with 1-2 years relevant industry or research experience will also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of physical sciences at the undergraduate level.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Flexibility and outstanding time management skills.
  • Background maintaining and troubleshooting scientific instruments and equipment.
