Job description

Responsibilities 

Primary Technical Work 

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy AI-powered applications, models, and workflows using Python and Azure services 
  • Develop machine learning models, generative AI solutions, and intelligent automation capabilities 
  • Build and integrate solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, Azure Machine Learning, and related Microsoft AI platforms 
  • Create and maintain Python-based applications, APIs, scripts, and data processing pipelines 
  • Support prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agentic AI, and Copilot-based solution development 
  • Document experiments, models, technical decisions, deployment steps, and support requirements 

Secondary Business Collaboration 

  • Translate business problems into defined AI use cases, requirements, and technical solution designs 
  • Engage with P&AI business teams to validate requirements, expected outcomes, and adoption needs 
  • Participate in workshops, demonstrations, stakeholder reviews, and solution testing sessions 
  • Present progress and results through clear briefings, demos, technical summaries, and business impact updates 
  • Contribute to reusable templates, standards, and knowledge-sharing materials for AI development across the division 

Success Criteria 

  • Delivery of production-ready AI prototypes, applications, models, or workflows that address P&AI business needs 
  • Clear technical documentation, maintainable code, and summary of business value or operational impact 
  • Demonstrated use of Azure AI, Azure OpenAI, Azure Machine Learning, and Microsoft development tools 
  • Strong problem-solving ability and effective collaboration with technical and nontechnical stakeholders 
  • Development of reusable capabilities that can be leveraged across multiple AMETEK businesses 
  • Continuous growth in AI engineering, cloud development, enterprise software practices, and secure solution design 

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related technical field 
  • Graduation within the past two years or expected graduation prior to start date 
  • Experience using Python for data, AI, automation, or software development through coursework, internships, research, personal projects, or professional experience 
  • Understanding of core machine learning concepts such as supervised learning, model training, evaluation, and deployment considerations 
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-making, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs
  • Familiarity with cloud services, APIs, software development practices, or willingness to learn quickly 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong analytical thinking, curiosity, and ability to work through ambiguous technical problems 
  • Ability to work onsite in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with Azure Machine Learning, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, or Power Platform AI features 
  • Experience building end-to-end AI, machine learning, automation, or data-driven prototypes 
  • Familiarity with SQL, Git, REST APIs, and general software development practices 
  • Exposure to Copilot Studio, Power Automate, Microsoft Fabric, Dataverse, or Power Platform 
  • Knowledge of large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering, vector databases, or retrieval-augmented generation 
  • Experience building full-stack applications or integrating cloud services 
  • Interest in applying AI within industrial, manufacturing, engineering, or B2B contexts
