In this role, you help with the development of code, experience the daily routine of a programmer, and help design and test software for your company. Entry-level computer programmers often build and install databases, conduct performance audits, convert logical sequences into programming languages, perform trial runs, modify code, and adjust the software to account for different computing environments. You may also perform data mining and data warehousing to create reports and briefings for other employees. Learning is a key element of this job, and employers often use a structured work process to help develop your skills before promoting you to a regular programmer.

Entry-Level AI Applications Engineer

Corvid HPC

Mooresville, NC โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Posted 21 days ago

Job description

About the Role

Corvid HPC is expanding. As we build out our new AI capability, we are looking for a high-energy, technically curious AI Applications Engineer to join our team in Mooresville, NC. This is a unique, entry-level opportunity to sit at the intersection of High-Performance Computing (HPC) and cutting-edge AI workflows.

You won't just be sitting behind a screen; this is a highly collaborative, customer-facing role. You will be the bridge between complex AI models and real-world engineering solutions, working alongside our Aerodynamics, CAE (Computer-Aided Engineering), and Sales teams to deliver high-impact results.

What You'll Do

  • Collaborate In-Person: Work daily with our Linux Admins and HPC experts to optimize AI workloads on our hardware.
  • Customer Engagement: Directly interface with clients to translate their high-level business needs into deep technical requirements.
  • Integrate AI & CAE: Develop and maintain integrations between Machine Learning models and industry-standard CAE tools.
  • Full-Stack Thinking: Assist in building web applications and interfaces that make AI tools accessible and functional for our engineering teams.
  • Problem Solve: Move seamlessly from "high-level" strategy discussions to "deep-in-the-weeds" debugging of ML pipelines.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • AI Exposure: While professional experience isn't required, you must demonstrate hands-on experience with AI workflows through internships, academic research, or a robust personal portfolio.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills. You must be comfortable presenting technical concepts to both experts and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Residency: Must be a U.S. Person (due to compliance and project requirements).
  • Presence: This is a 100% in-office role at our Mooresville, NC headquarters to foster rapid collaboration and innovation.

Bonus Points For:

  • A strong interest or background in Data Science (statistical modeling, data cleaning, visualization).
  • Experience with Machine Learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • Familiarity with Web Application development (APIs, UI/UX for tools).
  • Knowledge of or interest in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or general engineering simulation.

Why Corvid HPC?

This isn't your typical entry-level "cog in the machine" job. You will have a seat at the table as we define our AI roadmap. You'll be mentored by senior engineers in a fast-paced environment where your work directly impacts the aerodynamic performance and engineering efficiency of our partners.
