Job description

SUMMARY: The Entry-Level Maintenance Technician supports the safe and efficient operation of food production equipment and facilities. This role involves performing routine maintenance, assisting with repairs, and ensuring compliance with food safety and sanitation standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Schedule and perform inspections, lubrication, bearing and chain adjustments to reduce equipment failure. Operating and maintaining power fluid systems
  • Logging work orders, tracking maintenance history, and generating reports.
  • Collaborating with production and quality teams
  • Read technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to escalate required maintenance and service 
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with the required information documented in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) 
  • Familiarity with Food Drug Administration (FDA), U.S. Department Agriculture (USDA)and other food safety regulations
  • Understanding Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point, Good Manufacturing Practices, and sanitation protocols
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma required or General Education. Training in advanced technology coursework, engineering or maintenance 
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic systems, gas systems, liquid propane, boilers, and refrigeration is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with human machine interface (HMI) and automation a plus
  • Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, work instructions, and safety guidelines.
  • Basic math skills required
  • Forklift Certification required
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office or Computer

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Required to maneuver plant and warehouse workspaces which involve: 
  • Continually standing, walking, sitting, talking, or hearing, work around loud machinery and moving parts, utilize hand and finger dexterity, exposed to extreme heat, extreme cold, wet, and/or humid conditions (non-weather), required to climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel. 
  • Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions  
  • Frequently push, pull, and lift up to fifty pounds safely.
