Pay Rate Range: $20.00 - $22.00/hr. (DOE)
Employment Type: Contract (W2 through Tekberry)
Estimated Duration: 12 months (extension possible)
Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; OT expected ~45 hrs/week)

Job Overview
Tekberry is seeking a Drafting / CAD Technician I to support drafting and documentation activities for our client, a global leader in advanced optical manufacturing technologies.
This role is part of a global drafting team responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining engineering drawing packages for custom process equipment used across worldwide manufacturing facilities. The position focuses on drafting execution, model creation, and documentation updates rather than new product design.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and eager to grow within a structured engineering environment while supporting high-volume drafting workflows.

Key Responsibilities
Drafting & Model Development
  • Create and modify 3D models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Generate 2D drawings from existing 3D models and assemblies
  • Ensure drawings meet company drafting standards (detail, sheet metal, weldment, and assembly drawings)

Drawing Updates & Conversion
  • Correct redlined drawings and models provided by engineering and drafting leads
  • Convert legacy hand-drawn and AutoCAD drawings into modern 3D models and associative drawings
  • Support preparation of drawing packages prior to release into Autodesk Vault

Field Measurement & Equipment Documentation
  • Perform on-site audits and measurements of existing equipment using tools such as tape measures and calipers
  • Collect and incorporate production and engineering data into drawing updates

Collaboration & Documentation
  • Work closely with drafting leads, engineers, and development teams
  • Maintain accurate documentation and organized drawing files
  • Ensure compliance with company drafting standards and procedures

Must-Have Qualifications
Education
  • Associate's degree (A.A.S./A.O.S.) in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting/CAD, or similar field
    OR
  • Drafting certification with demonstrated 2D/3D drafting proficiency
    OR
  • Equivalent hands-on drafting experience

Skills & Experience
  • Entry-level (no professional experience required)
  • Basic experience with Autodesk Inventor and/or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Vault or similar document management systems (preferred exposure)
  • Understanding of ASME/ANSI drafting standards
  • Ability to use basic measurement tools (tape measure, calipers)
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
  • General Windows-based computer skills
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience converting legacy drawings to 3D CAD models
  • Exposure to manufacturing or industrial equipment environments

Work Environment
  • Hybrid schedule (1-3 days remote per week based on workload)
  • Monday-Friday schedule with expected overtime (~45 hours/week)
