Network Technology


The University of St. Thomas (UST), a private Catholic University committed to the liberal arts and the religious and intellectual tradition of Catholic higher education, with its main campus near the vibrant Houston central business district, Texas Medical Center, and museum district, is inviting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty Network Technology, Associates of Applied Sciences Program. The position will report to the Dean of the Associates Program.


General Description:

The position requires a faculty member with experience in Computer Information Technology and /or Network Security. The teaching faculty will provide learning activities and support the course objectives that aim to recognize the type of network designs appropriate for OSI (open system interconnection) models, security, and networking protocols. Adjunct faculty are hired in a part-time capacity on a semester-by-semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the online program.


Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and teach courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning
  • Utilizes a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meets with and advises students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Teaching assignment may include some evening and/or weekend hours
  • Evaluates students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and informs students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attends meetings, trainings, and orientations as required

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Masters degree in computer science, computer information systems, computer information technology, computer engineering, computer-based information systems or business/computer related field (e.g., computer management, decision engineering, or electrical engineering) required.
  • Minimum of 18 hours of graduate work in the technology field.
  • Minimum of 3 years non-teaching work experience in the related field or industry certification(s).
  • Strong consideration will be given to candidates with an equivalent combination of work and teaching experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position.
