Job description


Job Title: Technical Trainer

Department: IT

IT Reports to: IT Manager


Summary: The Technical Trainer will lead the development and maintenance of all training materials in a firm knowledge management system related to the firm’s usage of hardware and technology. Work closely with all departments in determining training needs and holding training, scheduled or ad hoc, as needed. The ideal candidate will have experience in Microsoft environments, be an excellent communicator, and be able to identify training gaps based on Tier 1 IT support issues and department needs. Additionally, this role will oversee new employee onboarding, ensuring a smooth transition into the firm’s technology and workflows.


Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with subject matter experts and department leaders to identify training gaps and develop targeted learning solutions.

• Host in-person and remote training sessions, ensuring engagement and knowledge retention.

• Schedule and coordinate vendor-led training sessions for firm-wide learning initiatives.

• Develop and manage a Learning Management System (LMS) tailored to the firm’s needs.

• Provide Tier 1 IT support, troubleshooting basic technical issues and identifying recurring problems that indicate training gaps.

• Maintain and update training materials, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.

• Hold consistent monthly training sessions and schedule group and one-on-one training as needed.

• Oversee new employees on boarding, ensuring they receive comprehensive training on firm technology, policies, and workflows.

• Work on new firm initiatives, developing training programs to support smooth rollouts and adoption of new technologies or processes.

• Ensure training aligns with Microsoft 365 applications and other firm technologies.

• Assist with other technical responsibilities as required.


Required Skills/Abilities:

• Minimum 3 years of experience as a trainer or instructional designer.

• Teaching certificate or instructional designer certification (a plus).

Familiarity/understanding of ADDIE as a training model.

• Experience in a law firm environment (preferred but not required).

• Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365 applications (preferred).

• Excellent communication, organization, and engagement skills.

• Ability to work independently and proactively identify training needs across departments.


Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times

• Work in the office three days a week
