Job Summary/Basic Function
The Student Building Techs (SBT) will work closely with full-time HMSU staff to assist with A/V setup and support in meeting rooms as well as oversee the building's security and safety. SBTs will be the first point of contact with event coordinators when accessing event spaces as well as the first-line of support to troubleshoot and repair audio/visual issues for ongoing events. During downtime between events, SBTs will work on projects and tasks such as Web/Desktop applications, documentations, hardware replacement/repair, A/V spot checks, and building patrol. Position is subject to call in for work during special events, including evenings and weekends. Position requirements will include days, evenings and weekends.
Specific Responsibilities
Customer service, AV knowledge, Some Programming (when applicable).
Also, some minor help with setups for event spaces.
Work Schedule
Shifts are assigned in four-hour increments:
  • Monday through Friday: 12pm-4pm,4pm-8pm
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 8am-12pm,12pm-4pm, 4pm-8pm

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist with setup and support of Audio/Visual equipment in meeting rooms.
• Act as first point of contact for events, including the opening of event rooms.
• Provide first-line troubleshooting on PC and A/V issues for event areas.
• Provide documentation and training for A/V equipment and/or developed applications.
• Complete applicable forms and reports.
• Provide prompt and courteous customer service to guests and clients.
• Enforce building policies and procedures.
• Provide for building security and safety (Patrol building, Lock/Unlock Rooms/Entries, etc.)
• Execute emergency procedures (such as building evacuations or medical emergencies)
• Performs other duties as assigned.
