Job description

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree, plus 6 months of relevant experience.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
ROLE AND POSITION OBJECTIVES:
As a Senior Network and Cyber System Engineer on the MIT team, you will execute cybersecurity operations and network engineering tasks across secure environments. This is a dual-role position split evenly between cybersecurity engineering and network engineering. You will contribute to maintaining the security posture and operation of information systems while performing the configuration, troubleshooting, and design support of network infrastructure. The ideal candidate brings developing expertise across both disciplines, demonstrates initiative on assignments, and is comfortable working with moderate supervision in a mission-focused environment.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Expected Tasking:
  • Perform day-to-day operation and maintenance of secure network infrastructures such as SIPRNet and other classified networks.
  • Configure, install, and troubleshoot Cisco routers and switches, Palo Alto firewall appliances, and TACLANE encryptors.
  • Develop and maintain security and technical documentation including System Security Plans (SSPs), Security Assessment Reports (SARs), and contingency plans for new and fielded information systems.
  • Contribute to Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities, including preparing authorization package artifacts and coordinating with Information System Security Managers and Officers.
  • Conduct vulnerability scans using ACAS/Nessus and SCAP Compliance Checker, interpret results, and contribute to remediation planning.
  • Manage network services including DNS, DHCP, VPN, LAN/WLAN, and VOIP systems.
  • Implement US government COMSEC, NIST, and DCSA standards and practices on information and network systems.
  • Contribute to the design and planning of network engineering solutions as part of a team.

What sets you apart:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Information Systems or another related field.
  • Considerable understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, subnetting, routing protocols, firewall operations, and network virtualization.
  • Considerable understanding of cybersecurity principles, including Risk Management Framework (RMF), STIGs, DIACAP, and government security specifications and guidelines.
  • Experience with Linux and/or Windows based information systems.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly report technical findings and security concerns.
  • Ability to grasp and apply new information quickly, as well as navigate complex systems and scenarios.
  • Takes initiative on assignments and professional execution of projects with little direction.
