Job description

Do you have experience troubleshooting and repairing POS Systems and providing Desktop Support Services?

Summary:
Tri Star Energy is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Desktop Support Field Engineer to join our IT team in our Store Support Center in Nashville, TN. This is a valued role that assists with keeping our retail locations up and running with software installations, upgrades, repair, and maintenance on all computer, network, and telecom equipment. This position is charged with responding to locations in a timely manner and providing strong customer service experience while engaging with both internal employees and in-store guests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provides support/maintenance to various retail locations and corporate employees.
  • Provides POS support/maintenance specializing in VeriFone Equipment (Ruby, Sapphire, SPP, etc.).
  • Provides IT support/maintenance of back office equipment (PC hardware and software, Laser Printer, Handheld Scanner, etc.) and network equipment (LAN and WAN).
  • Provides technical support/maintenance for third-party equipment (Veeder Root ATG, money order machines, etc.) and fuel dispenser interfaces/fore-court controllers.
  • Coordinates the organization and documentation of support processes for the purposes of training and knowledge sharing.
  • Develops improvement programs and implements checklists and technical standards for managing technology at each site, coordinating and tracking progress on the implementation.
  • Monitors all unresolved tickets, follows up with assigned personnel and communicates target dates to ensure customer expectations are properly managed.
  • Partners with other IT teams to develop solutions or mitigation strategies for recurring issues and problems.
  • Facilitates training of field technicians in the performance of duties, coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Maintains a focus on continuous improvement and the customer experience, ensures a quality customer service experience and resolves customer concerns.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all company, client, employee, and vendor information.
  • Reacts productively to change.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • 4+ years of recent, prior professional work experience in a desktop support and/or helpdesk environment
  • VeriFone VASC Commander/Topaz/Ruby 2 Certification OR must complete certification as required post-hire.
  • Good working knowledge of system hardware including, but not limited to, PCs, printers, iPhones, iPads, and laptops
  • Local Travel Required: 75% (Company Car Provided)
  • Must have valid Drivers License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in IT, Computer & Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Prior experience in a retail environment
  • Prior experience supporting Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite and Google Suite
  • Knowledge of remote diagnostic tools such as RDP, VNC, and MS Remote Assistant
  • Strong working knowledge of VeriFone Ruby registers and other various POS devices
  • Ability to work effectively with others and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Position includes regional travel up to 75% of the time.
