Job description

ASRC Federal Advanced Research supports the FAA NAS (National Airspace System) SLES (Second Level Engineering Services) contract.  Join our growing team as an electrical engineer in support of the NAS Communications Team at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center (MMAC) in Oklahoma City.

Requirements:

US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required. All applicants must have resided in the United States for the past 3 years.  On-site presence will be as required by the FAA.

  • Foundational knowledge of analog and digital circuit analysis and design.
  • Understanding of semiconductor devices, power electronics, and signal processing.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Familiarity with Printed Circuit Board design principles and layout fundamentals.
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, multimeters).
  • Understanding of grounding and bonding.
  • Basic troubleshooting of electronic assemblies and subsystems.
  • Ability to support electrical engineering tasks under senior engineer guidance.
  • Ability to pass an FAA background investigation.

 Responsibilities:

Technical Documentation & Communication

  • Ability to write clear, structured technical documentation including:
    • Engineering analysis reports.
    • Test procedures and test reports.
    • Configuration documentation.
    • Standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Engineering change documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for technical briefings and stakeholder coordination.
  • Ability to translate complex technical issues into clear explanations for non-technical personnel.

 

Field & Operational Support

  • Ability to take and support field service calls.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting support to field technicians.
  • Document incident findings and corrective actions.
  • Support remote and on-site system diagnostics.
  • Participate in after-hours or mission-critical support when required.

 

Core Electronics Engineering Competencies

  • Solid foundation in circuit theory, power systems, grounding, and signal integrity.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and system block diagrams.
  • Structured troubleshooting methodology (root cause analysis, fault isolation).
  • Understanding of system integration principles (hardware, firmware, and software interaction).
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards and electrical best practices.
  • Ability to support electrical engineering tasks in lab, field, and production environments.

 

Core Programming / Software Competencies

  • Experience with programming in Python (2 and 3), C, and C++.
  • Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge Windows, and UNIX and UNIX-like Operating Systems (AIX, Linux).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the importance of testing during all phases of the software development process.
  • Proficiency with computer operating systems, software, and hardware with proven ability to debug complex systems and to conduct reviews, audits, and testing.
  • Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving experience.
  • Experience with networking protocols and technologies including TCP, UDP, DHCP, SNMP, and VoIP.
  • Experience working in a team environment.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) accredited program in Computer/Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
