Role Summary

Entry-level Computational Designer to join Sherwoodโ€™s NY team, contributing to civil engineering projects using computational technologies. The role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and independent work to develop evidence-based solutions.

Minimum Skills
  • 0-2 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Design Engineering, Design Technology, Computational Design, Computer Science, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, or related field.
  • Basic knowledge of Rhino or Grasshopper
  • Interest in sustainability and environmental modeling
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment
  • Good interpersonal skills
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in a consulting environment
  • Knowledge of environmental simulation, hydrology modeling (HEC-RAS, Ladybug, CFD, etc.)
  • Proficiency in GIS, Revit, Dynamo, additive manufacturing, robotics, Blender, Unity, BIM, CAD, or Civil 3D
  • Drawing ability and strong design/aesthetic vision
Expected Outcomes
  • Support project work or workflows in Rhino/Grasshopper, Python, GIS, simulation, AI, IoT, or digitalโ€‘twinโ€‘related topics.
  • Organize research material into clear summaries, diagrams, and work plans.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Computational Specialists, and other team members on site analysis, planning frameworks, and engineering projects.
  • Assist in preparing project documentation, including reports, presentations, prototypes, and design drawings.
  • Engage in active collaboration across departments.
  • Ask clarifying questions when tasks are under-defined.

Compensation

The estimated wage range for this role is $73,000 to $81,000, depending on skills, experience, training, certifications, and other factors.
