911 Entry Level Dispatcher
Candidates must be available and flexible to work any assigned shift, holidays, and overtime.
Shifts: A: 7:00 A.M. - 3:00 P.M. | B: 3:00 P.M. - 11:00 P.M. | C: 11:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M.
Are you calm under pressure, detail-oriented, and ready to play a critical role in emergency response-answering 911 calls, coordinating first responders, and helping keep Fort Wayne and Allen County safe?
What You'll Do Learn and perform emergency and non-emergency dispatching for police, fire, and EMS. Take 911 calls, evaluate emergencies, and provide critical information to first responders. Operate and maintain communications equipment while documenting all activities accurately.
Key Responsibilities
  • Answer 911 and non-emergency calls for service
  • Dispatch Police, Fire, and EMS in Fort Wayne and Allen County
  • Collect and report critical information during high-stress situations
  • Use NCIC, IDACS, and Spillman databases for warrants, license checks, and officer support
  • Communicate clearly and calmly with staff, emergency responders, and the public

What You Bring - Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • Must pass keyboarding test (minimum 40 WPM)
  • Ability to quickly assess emergency situations and extract key information
