Title: Cost Engineer


Job Summary


Infinity Contracting Services, Corp. is actively seeking a highly motivated Cost Engineer for a construction project(s) located in the five boroughs of New York City.

Cost Engineer operates as a support role to the project team, providing cost control services and financials for the duration of the project. This individual is responsible for budgeting, monitoring, and forecasting the cost of construction. On a monthly basis Cost Engineer prepares and issues payment requisition packages, and provides labor production projections along with cash flow projections.


Responsibilities and Duties


Assign cost codes to newly established budget


Assist the project manager with the creation and approval of the schedule of values and approval of subcontractors schedule of values


Obtain approval of labor rate sheets for associated trades on the job


Track project progress against the projected budget


Verify cost codes applied by other project staff are correct


Generate monthly cost reports to track expenditures and distribute to the project team


Prepare monthly cash flow projections


Provide analysis on production rates


Create final job cost report upon the projects completion and submit it to the CEO for approval


Identify and establish payment requirements for different clients


Review and process subcontractors payment packages


Generate monthly payment requisitions and prepare associated backups


Track the approval progress


Review project documents (RFIs, submittals, bulletins, etc.) to identify contract scope impacts


Maintain change event and change order log in Procore


Prepare the change orders and collect required backup documents


Negotiate and submit change orders to the client


Review and assist with approval of subcontractor change orders


Track change order status


Assist the Project Manager with buy-outs


Perform market research and analysis for vendor selection


Cost code and issue purchase orders


Cost code and approve invoices


Assign cost codes to activities and procured items


Qualifications and Skills


Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related to construction and engineering fields- Not required.


Critical thinking


Strong oral and written communication.
