Pay listed rate is for entry level experience. Advanced/Skilled Machinists are encouraged to apply and attach their resumes for consideration of an expanded range dependent on interview and practical knowledge test.

This is a close-knit team that requires a dependable/reliable/respectful teammate.

The successful applicant will be employed through our preferred staffing agency for the duration of the probation period (minimum 520 hours) and then invited to join the Mesker team full-time after proven work ethic, attendance, and collaborative assessment.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist specializing in Turret Punch operations to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, operating, and maintaining turret punch presses to produce high-quality metal components. Your expertise in CNC operation, blueprint interpretation, and precision measurement will ensure efficient production processes and top-tier product quality. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced environment committed to continuous improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Program, set up, and operate CNC turret punch presses using CNC G-code to produce precise metal parts.
  • Interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately to determine tooling requirements and machining sequences.
  • Perform routine maintenance on CNC equipment, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal machine performance.
  • Conduct quality inspections utilizing measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision instruments to verify part dimensions and adherence to specifications.
  • Read and interpret GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) symbols to ensure parts meet strict quality standards.
  • Select appropriate tooling and fixtures, set up tooling changes efficiently, and maintain tooling inventory.
  • Collaborate with team members on lean manufacturing initiatives, optimize machining processes, and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience operating CNC turret punch presses or similar metal fabrication machinery such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes.
  • Strong knowledge of CNC programming languages including G-code and M-code.
  • Understanding of electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical specifications accurately.
  • Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Basic math skills for calculating measurements, tolerances, and machining parameters.
  • Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, welding equipment, forklifts, and other shop machinery safely.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency and waste reduction in production workflows.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on quality control during manufacturing processes.
