The Information Technology (IT) Cloud Engineer I is an entry-level position responsible for the daily monitoring and operational support of the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) cloud platform. This role follows established procedures to maintain the health and stability of the cloud environment under the direct guidance and supervision of team members. Will assist with routine maintenance tasks, respond to alerts, execute predefined automation scripts, and help document systems and processes. This position is foundational to the cloud operations team, with opportunities to develop skills in cloud computing and automation.
Responsibilities
A day in the life of an IT Cloud Engineer I with Hackensack Meridian Health includes:
  • Monitor the health, performance, and security of the cloud environment using established tools and dashboards.
  • Respond to system alerts and notifications, following standard operating procedures to resolve or escalate issues.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance tasks as directed by senior engineers.
  • Assist with the execution of documented automation scripts for common operational tasks.
  • Help create and maintain clear documentation for systems, processes, and issue resolution.
  • Provide support for software installation, patches, and fixes in a cloud environment.
  • Assist with user account management and access control requests following security best practices.
  • Work closely with senior engineers to learn and apply cloud technologies and operational best practices.
  • Support production changes during defined maintenance windows under supervision.
  • Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers in a timely manner.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as Computer Science or Information Technology; and/or applicable technical certificate; and/or equivalent (4 years) related experience.
  • Minimum of 0-2 (4-6 if no degree) years of experience in an IT support or operations role.
  • Strong desire to learn about cloud computing, automation, and infrastructure technologies.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, networking, and operating systems (Windows/Linux).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Customer-service oriented mindset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:
  • Internship or prior experience in an IT operations, help desk, or systems administration role.
  • Basic scripting knowledge (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash).
  • Familiarity with the basic concepts of a major cloud platform, such as Google Cloud Platform and/or Microsoft Azure.
  • A strong passion for technology and a drive for continuous learning.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
  • Relevant entry-level IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Cloud Essentials).
  • Google Associate Cloud Engineer.
  • HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Associate.

Starting Minimum Rate
Minimum rate of $97,011.20 Annually
