About the Role
The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will learn from experienced engineers and technicians while supporting operations, engineering initiatives, and continuous improvement activities. This internship provides hands-on exposure to manufacturing processes, mechanical design, data documentation, and efficiency projects that directly contribute to site performance. The ideal candidate is curious, driven, and eager to learn how engineering supports production excellence within a global organization.
Job Purpose
The internship is designed to help students understand how manufacturing engineers support operations through process development, equipment evaluation, design improvements, and documentation. The intern will be involved in studying product requirements, researching and testing manufacturing methods, and participating in activities that promote efficiency, technical competence, and resource optimization.
Key Responsibilities
• Learn sound manufacturing engineering principles from engineers and technicians
• Perform data entry, documentation updates, and engineering record management
• Catalog learnings and present an end-of-program summary to the Engineering Manager
• Support mechanical design of fixtures, tooling, and jigs
• Participate in manufacturing efficiency projects and process improvement activities
• Assist with research, problem solving, and engineering tasks as assigned
• Carry out additional duties as requested to support engineering and operational objectives
Qualifications
• Active enrollment in an ABET-accredited undergraduate Mechanical Engineering program or similar discipline
• Preferred candidates will have completed core engineering prerequisites and be enrolled in upper-division coursework
• Entry-level experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D modeling software
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
• Ability to use basic mechanical hand tools
• Strong interest in learning as much as possible about manufacturing engineering
• Ability to prioritize, take initiative, and follow projects through to completion
• Capability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
• Creative thinker with the ability to develop solutions to engineering challenges
• This is a safety-sensitive position
