Johnson Service Group is a nationwide staffing company that is looking for a Application Chemist I with 0-3 years’ experience. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent lab experience. This a Direct job in Irving, TX.
Pay Rate:$32.00 HR DOE
The Application Chemist I supports the development and formulation of personal care, cosmetic, and HI&I (Household, Industrial & Institutional) products. This role will assist with day-to-day laboratory formulation work, build hands-on skills with basic lab techniques, and continuously expand knowledge of raw materials and formulation fundamentals. The Application Chemist I will also help support customer and sales requests by preparing prototype samples and starter formulations.
Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the formulation and development of personal care, cosmetic, and HI&I products for potential publication in recognized industry publications and websites.
  • Provide technical and formulation support to the Sales team as needed via email, phone, virtual meetings, or in-person meetings.
  • Prepare and fulfill prototype sample requests, including batching and documenting starter formulations.
  • Support the development of new raw materials, including basic evaluation and formulation testing as needed.
  • Research formulation methods and raw material performance through literature review, experimentation, and mentorship/training.
  • Help maintain the Applications Lab, including equipment upkeep, clean workspaces, benchtops, and general lab organization.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field (or equivalent lab experience).
  • 0–2 years of experience in a formulation lab (internship, co-op, or entry-level experience acceptable).
  • Familiarity with basic lab practices such as weighing, batching, mixing, pH adjustment, viscosity measurement, and safe chemical handling.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills; able to follow procedures and record results clearly.
  • Comfortable supporting internal customers (Sales/Marketing) with a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced lab environment.
