Summary:

The primary function of a Entry Level Automotive Technician is to safely provide an excellent service experience for our guests. Technicians work with their hands on cars, such as changing oil and filters, adding fluids, checking tire pressure and washing windows. They must also have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, as well as be able to speak effectively with guests and employees.


Job Responsibilities:

Perform upper and lower level lube technicians functions. The job will focus around fluid checks and basic maintenance. Typically, an entry level technician will change a vehicle's oil, check the transmission fluid and other fluid levels, inspect various belts and filters, and check air levels and gauges. Training will be provided, but candidates should at least have a basic understanding of car maintenance. Assist technician mechanics in performing technical activities. Continuously seek out and learn new technical information, equipment, tools and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology. Keeps store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur. Keeps store management aware of mechanical repair problems as they occur. Maintain and secure work tools. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use. Maintain an organized, clean and hazard free work environment.


Requirements

  • 1-2 years of automotive mechanical diagnosis, problem-solving and repair experience to succeed in this position.
  • Appropriate hand tools necessary for services performed.
  • Safe working knowledge of shop tools and equipment such as scanners, electrical diagnostic equipment, A/C recovery equipment, fluid exchange equipment, lift operation, etc.
  • Comfort entering and reading information on computer screen
  • Must be able to stand on concrete or metal surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Work in an environment that frequently experiences extreme hot and cold temperatures, loud noises, and exhaust fumes.
  • Lift and move inventory items, trashcans and other work related items (up to 50 pounds).
  • Must be able to work at a rapid pace for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, pull up, bend at the knees and waist, twist body at the waist, raise and hold arms overhead, turn head-neck-shoulders as needed, grasp and hold tools and other items with hands, for either extended periods of time or many times throughout the shift.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and A/C Refrigerant handling certifications are a plus, but not required unless performing A/C or other license required services.
  • Must have a Valid Driver's License.
  • Pre-employment drug test/physical/ background check will help assure we build teams of people who can best work with others and serve customer needs.
