As an entry-level certified medical assistant, your duties include a mix of administrative responsibilities and assisting a physician or another clinical specialist in a clinic, medical department, or physician’s office. Your administrative tasks include answering telephones, scheduling visits for patients, filling out billing and insurance paperwork, and organizing the office. When assisting a physician or other medical specialists, you may conduct eye exams, draw blood, record a patient's vitals, and provide them with information related to their treatment or insurance. Some medical assistants also prepare or perform basic lab tests and other research duties at the office.
