UNIT BIO:

MFT5 is a 40-bed cardiac telemetry unit seeking highly motivated RNs to join their team at Maine Medical Center. This fast-paced diagnostic and procedural unit cares for a complex cardiac population of patients including: NSTEMI, AFIB, Unstable Angina, Advanced Heart Failure and LVADs.

The nursing team on MFT5 encompass nurses who deliver excellent patient care, take pride in teamwork, and who strive to continually develop themselves and each other professionally.

The Malone Family Tower is an eight-story addition toMaineHealthMaine Medical Center's historic campus in Portland, Maine. It marks the culmination of a decade-long initiative to improve access to hospital-based care, increase the number of private rooms, and support better patient outcomes. As the hospital approaches 150 years of service, it faced the challenge of remaining on its original site while addressing aging infrastructure, inefficient space, and a shortage of surgical beds. To meet the needs of Portland's growing and aging population-particularly in cardiac care-it expanded with the Malone Family Tower, which includes 40 pre- and post-surgical beds, 19 procedure rooms, and 96 universal patient rooms. Maine's rugged coastline, with its rocky shores, dense forests, and pristine waters, served as the inspiration for this structure's design and materials. A striking, faceted facade gives way to a soaring seven-story atrium that seamlessly links the public concourse, clinical spaces, and lounges. This central atrium serves as the heart of the building, unifying all seven levels, filling the interiors with natural light, and transforming enclosed areas into open, welcoming spaces.

Summary: The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center's mission, vision, and values by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient and family centered care, commitment to our community, and accountability. In accordance with national standards of nursing practice and within the guidelines and policies and procedures of both Maine Medical Center and the Maine State Board of Nursing, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of the effects of nursing care. Care delivery and coordination of patient and family care begins with the initial contact with the health care system and may continue across the continuum. Services may be provided on an inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and/or community basis.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing. A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing is preferred.
• License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine.
• Experience: As this is an entry-level position, experience as an RN is not required. Cardiac experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing.
• Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and health care team members.
• Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients' conditions and to initiate appropriate action.
• All new graduate RNs (less than 6 months of RN experience) hired into regular status positions are automatically enrolled in our 12-month Nurse Residency Program in conjunction with their unit based employment. For RNs with less than 1 year of RN experience transferring from another organization with RN experience and/or participation in a formal new graduate nurse orientation program, consideration for exceptions to some or all Maine Medical Center Nurse Residency Program requirements may be made on an individual basis.
• In accordance with the Clinical Nursing Advancement Program, a Clinical Nurse I who meets or exceeds all of the Clinical Nurse I criteria and requirements at the 12 month performance evaluation date, will be appointed to the Clinical Nurse II position by the Nursing Director.

The pay range for this position is $38.27 per hour.

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
