Job Summary

The Class B CDL Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently delivering pipe, valves, fittings, water heaters, plumbing fixtures, HVAC equipment, and related materials to customer locations. The role involves approximately 90% driving and 10% warehouse support, including shipping, receiving, loading trucks, and preparing orders. The driver is responsible for securing materials, completing required delivery documentation, providing professional customer service, and complying with all applicable DOT and safety requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate a Class B curtain-side truck and F-250 to deliver materials to customer locations, with deliveries typically within 100 miles.
  • Deliver materials according to scheduled delivery times and validate directions before and during routes.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload materials while staying within vehicle weight limits.
  • Provide professional customer service during deliveries and communicate with supervisors throughout the workday.
  • Provide delivery tickets with shipments and obtain customer signatures.
  • Collect payment when required.
  • Pick up customer returns and verify that products match credit requests.
  • Pick up local customer purchase orders as assigned.
  • Secure and return packing lists and delivery documentation.
  • Verify that all materials have been unloaded and placed at the delivery site.
  • Review completed deliveries with the supervisor for accuracy and completion.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and regulations.
  • Fuel vehicles as needed and promptly report vehicle problems, accidents, moving violations, or defects to the supervisor.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with pulling, preparing, receiving, verifying, staging, and stocking materials.
  • Assist with shipping, receiving, and loading trucks.
  • Use delivery tracking equipment and basic computer systems to document deliveries and related activities.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and comply with company policies and safety procedures.
  • Support company programs, goals, and initiatives.
  • Work overtime as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience driving the class of vehicle assigned.
  • Minimum 1 year of CDL experience.
  • Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Required state-issued self-certification designation of non-excepted interstate status and proof of certification.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • General computer skills and ability to use a delivery tracking device.
  • Ability to safely load, secure, handle, and unload materials.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to comply with DOT, safety, and company requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively in both delivery and warehouse environments.
  • Must be comfortable operating vehicles equipped with cameras that monitor deliveries.
  • Reliable attendance and strong work performance are required.

Work Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience operating the class of vehicle assigned.
