Worker Type Regular Job Description Entry-Level Software Engineer Overview AV’s Specialized Exploitation & Targeting (SET) Department is seeking an entry-level Software Engineer to support NASIC at Wright-Patterson AFB. You will write and maintain multiple source code repositories for data analysis tools to support the production of technical intelligence products for warfighters, senior decision-makers, and the Intelligence Community. Technologies used in this position can range from languages such as C++, Python, and TypeScript.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enhance and maintain existing code bases for multiple applications and websites on both the Windows and Linux environments.
  • Participating in software design meetings and reviews.
  • Working with other software developers in a team environment.
  • Implementing unit tests and participating in functional test plan execution.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math, or a closely related technical field.
  • 0-3 years of experience in software design, development, coding, testing, and debugging.
  • Knowledge in web/service-based design, programming, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Python, and Go.
  • Familiarity using Git to manage code repositories.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with test-driven development such as Agile and Scrum, and in full-cycle development.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Familiarity with document stores like Elasticsearch and SQL stores such as PostgreSQL.

In order to comply with the requirements of the ITAR and/or the EAR, applicants must qualify as a U.S. person under the ITAR and the EAR, or a person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction. Please understand that any job offer that requires approval of an export license will be conditional on AeroVironment’s determination that it will be able to obtain an export license in a time frame consistent with AeroVironment’s business requirements. A “U.S. person” according to the ITAR definition is a U.S. citizen, U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or protected individual such as a refugee or asylee. See 22 CFR § 120.15. Some positions will require current U.S. Citizenship due to contract requirements.
