Entry-Level Financial Analyst — Job Description

Location - Florida, USA

Job type - Fulltime + Benefits & Contract


An Entry-Level Financial Analyst supports finance and business teams with financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and data analysis. The role involves working with financial data to identify trends, prepare reports, and support management in business and financial decision-making.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including revenue, expenses, profitability, and operating performance.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities by collecting historical data and updating financial assumptions.
  • Perform budget vs. actual and forecast vs. actual variance analysis and help identify reasons for significant differences.
  • Prepare and maintain financial models using Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, and financial formulas.
  • Analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash-flow statements to understand financial performance.
  • Support FP&A activities, including expense tracking, revenue analysis, headcount reporting, and management reporting.
  • Extract and validate financial data using Excel and basic SQL to improve reporting accuracy.
  • Assist with creating Power BI or Tableau dashboards for financial KPIs and business performance.
  • Perform data reconciliation between financial reports, source systems, and accounting records.
  • Support month-end and quarter-end activities by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation.
  • Help maintain financial data in ERP/accounting systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Prepare management presentations and financial summaries using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Work with accounting, operations, sales, and finance teams to collect data and resolve reporting discrepancies.
  • Follow internal financial controls, reporting standards, and company policies.


Required Skills

Financial Analysis: Budgeting, Forecasting, Variance Analysis, Financial Modeling, P&L Analysis, Cash-Flow Analysis

Excel: PivotTables, XLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, IF statements, charts, basic Power Query

Data & Reporting: Basic SQL, Power BI or Tableau, Data Validation, Data Reconciliation

Finance Systems: Exposure to SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems is beneficial.

Business Skills: Analytical Thinking, Attention to Detail, Problem Solving, Communication, Documentation, and Stakeholder Coordination


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Candidates with 0–2 years of experience, including internships or academic financial-analysis projects, can be considered.
