Role Summary
Join a team where you’ll work alongside experienced engineers, contribute to the design of renewable power generation technologies - from utility-scale solar to battery storage, hydrogen, and carbon capture, and build your technical foundation. Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • 0-2 years of experience
  • Pursuit of or have passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam a plus
  • Assist with the development and coordination of:
  • Equipment layouts and site plans
  • One line and three line diagrams
  • DC and AC collection systems
  • Cable routing, trenching, and conduit layouts
  • Construction details and technical notes
  • Integration of control and monitoring systems
  • Basic ability to comprehend and interpret applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE standards.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary internal teams, clients, utilities, and equipment vendors to resolve design questions and support submittal reviews.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, calculations, design narratives, and technical reports to support permitting, procurement, and construction.
  • Develop and refine PV system layouts using AutoCAD based tools and PVcase, ensuring constructability and alignment with project constraints and client standards.
  • Perform energy production modeling using industry standard tools such as PVsyst and System Advisor Model (SAM), including:
  • Assumption development and validation
  • Loss modeling and performance checks
  • Comparison of modeled results against project requirements
  • Assist with electrical calculations, including:
  • Voltage drop
  • DC and AC system losses
  • Conductor sizing and circuit loading
  • Support trench, duct bank, and cable ampacity studies using tools such as AmpCalc, CYMCAP, or ETAP, under supervision.
  • Adaptable and eager to learn, with a foundational ability to collaborate with project teams in a multi-discipline environment.
  • Developing written and verbal communication skills with a strong willingness to learn and engage effectively with team members.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion. This includes collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to develop equipment layouts, one-line diagrams, cable routing, communications systems design, grounding design, equipment selection, and equipment specifications.
  • Apply and verify compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards, including NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE standards.
  • Perform cable ampacity and trench design using software packages like CYMCAP, ETAP, or AmpCalc.
  • Modeling of electrical systems using software packages like ETAP or SKM for the generation of electrical reports, including short circuit analysis, reactive power and load flow analysis, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Support the development and review of grounding system designs for PV plants using tools such as CDEGS and WinIGS, including coordination with senior engineers on study assumptions and results.
  • Engage in mentorship and structured learning opportunities with experienced engineers to build foundational skills.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of your own work through self-review and adherence to established standards.
  • Support client interactions by communicating professionally and learning to understand client expectations.
  • Support assigned tasks while learning to work within defined scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Participate in occasional site walks for current projects.  Less than 5% travel.
