They work with businesses, governments, or nonprofits to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and to help meet sustainability goals. Their responsibilities often include conducting carbon audits, identifying areas for emissions reduction, and preparing reports for stakeholders. By managing carbon emissions, they help organizations minimize their environmental impact and can also identify cost-saving opportunities through improved energy efficiency.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a carbon manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Carbon Manager, you need expertise in environmental science, carbon accounting, and sustainability reporting, often supported by a relevant degree and experience in emissions management. Familiarity with carbon footprint calculation tools, greenhouse gas (GHG) protocols, and certifications like ISO 14064 or GHG Inventory Quantifier is typically required.
