Job description

The Assistant Solar Project Developer is an entry-level position that supports Spear's Pre-Construction, Business Development, and Engineering teams in the development of commercial and industrial solar, battery energy storage, EV charging, and microgrid projects.


This role provides exposure to every phase of project development—from initial feasibility studies and

energy modeling through preliminary engineering and proposal development. The ideal candidate is

analytical, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in developing a long-term career in renewable

energy project development.


Primary Responsibilities

Project Development Pre-Construction

  • Develop photovoltaic system layouts using Helioscope.
  • Generate Helioscope production reports and project documentation.
  • Perform energy analysis using utility bills and interval load data.
  • Build and maintain Energy Toolbase financial and energy models.
  • Develop preliminary cash flow and project financial models.
  • Prepare project feasibility studies and executive summaries.
  • Assist with proposal development, technical exhibits, and customer presentations.
  • Research utility programs, incentives, tariffs, and interconnection requirements.
  • Support project sizing and optimization based on customer energy consumption.
  • Organize project files and maintain development documentation.


General Responsibilities

  • Support the Business Development and Pre-Construction teams on active opportunities.
  • Participate in internal project coordination meetings.
  • Maintain organized project records and databases.
  • Assist with miscellaneous technical research and administrative project tasks.
  • Continuously develop technical knowledge of solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV charging infrastructure, and microgrid technologies.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, or Business Management.
  • Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.


Preferred Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn new software and renewable energy technologies.

Work Environment

  • Full-time position (40 hours per week)
  • Monday through Friday
  • In-office position
  • Occasional local project site visits may be required
