Job description

JELD-WEN is currently seeking a General Production - Laminate Days to join our growing team.
Who we are
• VPI Quality Windows is a commercial division of JELD-WEN, Inc. that focuses on manufacturing windows and patio doors for multi-family construction with a particular focus on apartments, dormitories, senior living, and hotels.
Job Overview
• The primary role of General Production is to perform the general production/line duties as directed in the lamination department with a focus on safety, quality, reliability, and productivity. This is an entry level manufacturing position with a strong emphasis around learning the basic lamination process and performing the line duties around said processes. This includes infeeding and outfeeding of the lamination equipment as well as bundling/packaging of vinyl lineals (finished goods).
• Level 1 General production starts at $21.01/hr with benefits.
What We Do
• Prepare vinyl material for loading into lamination equipment (unbundling).
• Load laminated vinyl in appropriate racking.
• Laminate vinyl lineal for use in the production of windows & doors.
• Supply VPI with stock for production.
• Check the quality of products and materials according to AAMA Standards as well as other regulatory agencies as well as our own VPI Quality Standards.
Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Actively support and participate in the company's safety and health program.
• Learn all General Production Lamination roles as needed to support production needs daily.
• Understand the products we use and how to locate and stage in a way to maximize productivity.
• Be able to follow basic verbal and written instructions as provided by leads and supervisors in the department.
• Perform infeed and outfeed duties- loading and unloading the lamination equipment and be able to perform all associate IQC (Quality Checks) specific to each role.
• Assist other team members through gathering materials, moving units, changing machine over and loading and unloading products.
• Assists co-workers in analyzing and correcting problems encountered in job assignments to perform work according to standard operating procedures.
• Follow documented Standard Work within their work cell/assigned area and "flex" to different positions to support production output in a professional manner.
• Depending on assigned area, may be expected to perform quality checks, finish products in full, and assist in loading trucks.
• Be able to work/stand for full shifts and perform all duties as required for the General Production role.
• Must be willing to do housekeeping including cleaning restrooms.
Position Requirements
• This role requires consistent physical activity throughout the shift, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs independently and up to 100 lbs with team assistance.
• Work may involve repetitive motions and working in a fast-paced assembly line manufacturing environment
• Employees must be able to stand and walk for up to 12 hours per day on hard surfaces.
• Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and climbing may be required to access materials and operate equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret production paperwork and labels
• Ability to work in hot, humid environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in using metrology instruments and recording inspection data
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times, and employees are expected to maintain a safe and clean work area.
• Overtime may be required, sometimes on short notice, to meet production goals.
• Must meet daily production rates while maintaining quality standards for raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods.
• Advancement opportunities are available, with a strong emphasis on promoting from within.
• Additional tasks may be assigned by the Supervisor or Manager as needed to support operations.
• Candidates must be comfortable working with both manual and powered tools commonly used in manufacturing and assembly environments. These include, but are not limited to:

• Saws
• Sanders
• Vacuum hoists
• Routers
• Pallet jacks
• Tape measures
Required Skills and Experience
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Stable work history with preferred 2 - 3 years of manufacturing experience. Lamination experience is a plus. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Proven problem solving and organizational skills.
• Works well in a team environment with a diverse workforce.
• Ability to perform several tasks concurrently with ease and professionalism.
