Job description

Reports to: Service Manager / Immediate Supervisor (Service Department)

Works closely with: Yard Team Lead, Maintenance Lead, Service Advisor, Senior Technicians

Position Summary

Technician Candidate 1 (TC1) is an entry-level technician role designed to build foundational marina and mechanical competency through hands-on exposure to marina operations, yard maintenance, and facility maintenance, while developing baseline technical skills. TC1 technicians are expected to support operational needs and reduce non-billable workload burden on Senior Technicians.

Primary Responsibilities

Marina Operations / Yard / Facility Support (Core Role)

  • Assist in all marina operations as assigned, including haul/launch support, staging, and boat movement preparation
  • Perform yard maintenance and facility maintenance tasks as assigned
  • Support facility repair and improvement projects and equipment maintenance
  • Maintain clean, safe work environments and organized staging areas to improve operational flow

Technical Support & Foundational Mechanical Work

  • Assist technicians with installations (engines, pumps, accessories, etc.) as assigned
  • Perform basic seasonal services (winterization and spring commissioning) under supervision until competency is verified
  • Demonstrate foundational understanding of 12V electrical systems and safe troubleshooting basics
  • Document work, notes, and maintenance tasks accurately in Limble and service software systems

  • Commit to self-directed learning outside of work hours through OEM modules, manuals, and technical resources
  • Participate in weekend training opportunities and hands-on training jobs when offered, to accelerate exposure and development

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • 0–2 years of experience; direct-from-school candidates welcome
  • Ability to speak/read English and understand basic wiring diagrams
  • Must meet physical requirements of the job
  • Must provide personal tools per tool policy (apprentices may be provided tools for a limited time)
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to professional growth

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs
  • Ability to work comfortably around water
  • Ability to work in tight spaces
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet
  • Stand for extended periods of time, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, crawl, bend, kneel, squat, twist, reach, grasp
