Responsibilities

Cundall are looking for an experienced Building Management System (BMS) design engineer that has experience with either Process Logic Controllers (PLC) and Supervisory Controls And Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems or Direct Digital Controllers (DDC) and BMS Supervisory systems.

Experience in the data centre sector and understanding of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) is preferred.

An excellent knowledge of the control of mechanical plant and systems and the monitoring of electrical equipment is a must.

As a BMS design engineer you will collaborate closely with clients and design team (architect, civil, electrical, IT, mechanical, public health, structural engineers, etc.) to create innovative designs, make changes, comment on submittals, witness software bench tests, witness factory witness tests, review, and comment on the installation and witness the completed installation.

In addition, you will work in the Building Automation team (currently 20 team members globally) and advise on and develop technical standards, details and specifications relating to controls and provide advice on appropriate control strategies.

Some of our projects are outside the UK, potential weeklong trips to project sites occur approximately four to six times per year, offering exciting opportunities to be directly involved on-site and see your work in action.

Qualifications

Experience with either BMS, DDC and Supervisory platforms or PLC and SCADA. Building Services Automated Controls within either a Consultancy or Contracting organisation.

Expert understanding of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning processes to maintain optimal air quality, temperature, humidity and pressures.

Effective problem-solving and troubleshooting skills are essential for diagnosing issues quickly and implementing efficient solutions, minimizing system downtime. Additionally, strong communication skills are vital for producing clear documentation and collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned and the system operates smoothly.

Ideally you have a demonstrable track record working with building automation industry, but more crucially - you have the enthusiasm to learn and develop your existing skills, and a desire to perform at the highest standard.
