Job Duties
The instructor will provide quality educational programs through sound instruction to meet the individual needs of residents/students, as well as the standards defined under the Commonwealth's statutes and program certification requirements. The Electrical Technician Instructor will provide instruction and engage students in a quality, competency-based program preparing students for entrylevel employment and/or post-secondary education.
The selected candidate must be able to successfully complete the Department of Juvenile Justice-mandated training and certifications, including the three-week DJJ Basic Skills for Security located in Hanover, Virginia.
We are offering a $5,000.00 sign-on bonus to eligible hires.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License. Must hold or be eligible for electrical credential. Must have a minimum of two years of successful work experience in electrical. Knowledge of content, curriculum, methods, materials, and equipment to successfully perform the work. Ability to supervise students and youth, facilitate appropriate classroom management, and maintain accurate records.
Additional Considerations
Master Electrician, Journeyman Electrician, or NCCER Electrician certification preferred. Experience teaching or working with at risk- youth preferred. Knowledge of DJJ and DHRM policies and procedures and the ability to meet DHRM established physical demands.
