Works under the minimal supervision of the Clinical Engineering Supervisor. Performs the specific duties required of the team which s/he is assigned. Possess a broad level of knowledge and experience in most facets of the job and functions. Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of an advanced level CE Technician. Instructs level 1 and 2 technicians. Demonstrates sense of urgency and ownership, high degree of self-motivation, commitment, integrity, initiative, and workmanship. Is committed to providing excellent customer support to our physicians, staff, and business partners. May perform other duties as assigned.

    • Standard Work: Biomedical Engineer III
    • Under minimum supervision, evaluates medical equipment issues, rounds and as assigned, performs repairs, Electrical Safety and Preventative Maintenance (PMs)
    • Flex time as required to meet department operational requirements.
    • Maintains accurate and current records of medical equipment service, repairs and PMs.
    • Maintain proper care of all tools and test equipment.
    • Has a understanding of local and national regulations and guidance
    • Attends and satisfactorily completes training and cross-trains other CE staff as appropriate.
    • Evaluate contracts as requested.
    • Participate in Projects as requested.
    • Assists in the evaluation of new equipment, accessories and supplies.
    • Helps maintain technical literature library
Competencies & Skills
Essential:
  • Strong customer service, technical, and critical thinking skills. Excellent communication and team skills.
  • Must have broad level of competence in repair of electro-mechanical, electronic, and/or computer medical technology to sufficiently diagnose and repair medical devices and systems
  • Ability to perform a comprehensive level of testing and troubleshooting of medical devices involving specialized and generic test equipment and software diagnostic tools. Understands electrical and mechanical biomedical safety principles.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively and ability to occasionally maneuver and lift heavy equipment. Ability to endure long periods of walking and standing.
  • Strong ability to learn advanced equipment maintenance, operating procedures, and repair procedures from training materials and courses.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
  • Associate Degree
Nonessential:
  • Bachelor Degree

Essential:
  • Biomedical Degree or equivalent Military biomedical education (School House)
Nonessential:
  • Biomedical Degree or equivalent Military biomedical education (School House)

Other information:
Experience Essential:
- 3+ years of Bio-Medical experience
- Possesses understanding and skills related to general electro-mechanical systems and devices.
- Can provide support of acuity equipment for direct patient care
- Is familiar with the operations and environment that they support such as hospital, clinic, and so on.
- Possesses understanding of common clinical terminology as well as that of life sciences such as anatomy and physiology
- Completion of 1 OEM training group
