Job description

Nashville General Hospital is hiring a Licensed Medical Laboratory Tech - PRN in Nashville, TN.
   This position is primarily responsible for processing and analyzing a variety of biological samples obtained from patients under the direction of a general supervisor, department supervisor or designated technologist. 
As a Licensed Medical Laboratory Tech, you will: 
  • Uses appropriate techniques to obtain and maintain integrity of specimen in relation to test performed
  • Maintains identification of specimens keeping records and documentation as required 
  • Prepares specimens for analysis and retains samples according to procedure.
  • Analyzes samples by following protocol in Chemistry, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Hematology, or other areas of the Lab
  • Monitors and maintains quality control and technical accuracy of tests, procedures, and final reports
  • Operates and calibrates laboratory instruments to ensure accuracy
 
Required Skills & Qualifications:  
  • Education:  Approved course in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited college or other recognized institution preferred.  An Associate Degree is required.
  • Licensure/Certification:  Must be licensed as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the State of Tennessee.
  • Experience/Knowledge:  Clinical Laboratory experience is desired, but consideration may be given to recent graduates.  Candidates with Associate's Degree are preferred.  Knowledge of hospital and departmental policies and procedures and the ability to operate technical equipment as acquired through orientation.  The Medical Laboratory Technician must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients assigned.
