Job description

Study Technician- (SPAM) Specimen Processing and Management

Greenfield, Indiana

Labcorp is seeking a Study Technician to join our Animal Operations team in Greenfield, IN!

Work Schedule: Day time hours, once fully trained will require working every 3rd weekend (both Saturday and Sunday)


Job Responsibilities:

  • Learn to interpret and understand basic protocols.
  • Learn good research practice (GXP) principles.
  • Learn to operate various data collection systems.
  • Learn basic technician requirements, (including but not limited to):
    • Animal room requirements/ upkeep, time / study management, data organization / review, QA/QC audit response, communication skills and quality check procedures.
  • Ability to work across groups with more than one species.
  • Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
  • Learn to understand requirements for study conduct.
    • Independently running studies (basic study designs, multiple species etc.).
  • Learn how to perform basic clinical observations.
  • Learn how to perform basic data measurements, (including but not limited to):
    • Body weights, food consumption, tumor measurements, body temperatures, etc.
  • Learn how to perform basic dosing techniques for various species, (including but not limited to):
    • Oral gavage, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous etc.
  • Learn how to perform basic sample collections, (may include):
    • Blood, urine, feces etc.
  • May learn basic non histological tissue collections.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in animal science, Biology, Wildlife Studies, or related life science field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior animal research experience
  • Prior specimen processing experience
  • Experience with using standard laboratory equipment such as scales, measures, pipetting
  • Ability to follow research study procedures and document findings
  • Good time management skills
  • AALAS Certification is preferred but not required-we can help you obtain this!

Additional Job Standards:

  • Comfortable working with small and large animals in research environment
  • Basic Computer Knowledge
  • Basic Math Skills
  • Ability to accurately read, record and communicate information
  • Flexibility to work overtime as needed

Pay: $22/hr.
