As a Horticulturist, you will be an integral member of our Horticulture and Conservation crew, working alongside Bartlett's dedicated team of horticulturists and botanists, gaining practical field experience in scientific plant care and management. This is a unique, physically demanding entry-level opportunity to develop your career in horticulture through hands-on, on-the-job training.

As a Horticulturist, you will play an important role in:

  • Learning through on-the-job training to safely perform all aspects of horticulture, including:
    • Plant ID
    • Proper and responsible pruning
    • Planting and re-potting techniques
    • Properly maintaining an ever-developing plant nursery and greenhouses
    • Caring for our extensive, rare, and endangered plant collection
    • Assisting our crew of Horticulturists and Plant Conservationists with ongoing projects
    • Assisting with inventorying our growing plant collection
  • Learning, understanding, and adhering to all safety rules and company safety policies

  • A passion for nature, the environment, and the outdoors is a must!
  • Comfort working outdoors in year-round Carolina weather (Shirts and jackets provided)
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to participate within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Prior gardening, landscape, or horticulture experience is preferred but not required
  • Valid driver's license
  • Degree in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required
