Summary: Assist in the daily operation of the branch under the supervision of the Branch Operations Manager within the guidance and directives as determined by Branch Administration. With prior banking experience, teller responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Processing paying and receiving transactions.
  2. Prepare Cashier's Checks.
  3. Prepare and process general ledger transactions.
  4. Process internal and external customer transfer requests.
  5. Process safe deposit payments.
  6. Prepare and process Stop Payment and Hold requests.
  7. Prepare closed account checklists for review.
  8. Process teller exchanges to/from the vault.
  9. Answer and respond to telephone inquiries.
  10. Count and balance assigned teller drawer daily within approved teller cash limits.
  11. Assist in processing branch teller proof work to include encoding and scanning.
  12. Prepare outgoing wire transfer requests for supervisor review and approval.
  13. Assist in preparing outgoing cash shipments and change orders.
  14. Vault transaction processing and balancing, as assigned by supervisor.
  15. Special projects and all other duties as trained and assigned.

Organizational Relationships:
  • Daily contact with Senior Lending Officers, Loan Officers, Loan Documentation Dept., other branches and departments.

External Business Relationships:
  • Daily telephone and personal contact with customers, outside agencies, and others.

Required Skills/Abilities:
Working: Thorough understanding of banking functions as related to paying/receiving teller transactions and branch operations. The ability to be effective within the daily branch operations functions with little supervision, the ability to understand more complex banking terms and applications, and to be able to communicate procedures to entry level tellers. Strong organizational and time management skills, along with the ability to multi-task, are necessary. Good understanding and knowledge of products and services offered through the bank is expected.
Language: Must possess the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Exhibit the ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical: Must possess the ability to apply basic mathematical concepts, add, subtract, multiply and divide.
Reasoning: Apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written and verbal instructions. Able to understand and follow established Bank policies and procedures.
Interpersonal: Possess advanced interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with and take direction from supervisors and accept instruction or constructive criticism in order to gain experience and competency through training and daily interaction with supervisors and co-workers. Demonstrate customer service skills such as friendliness, attentiveness, patience, courtesy, and empathy, and deliver a high level of customer service to internal and external customers, both in person and on the telephone.
Computer: Working knowledge of computers and bank operating systems e.g., Microsoft Outlook and Internet Explorer.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of two (2) years of banking experience in a branch environment with at least one (1) continuous year as a paying/receiving teller working directly with the public.
