Description:

TheParks Construction Specialist Iis an entry-level position that supports thenewconstruction, maintenance, repair, and restoration of parkfacilities, infrastructure, and buildings. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone who is willing to learn, has a strong work ethic, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team. The position works alongside experienced staff to develop skills while helpingmaintainsafe, welcoming, and well-functioning parks and facilities. Responsibilities may include supporting daily maintenance and construction activities, inspecting facilities for safety and maintenance needs,assistingwith projects and volunteers, and helping ensure work meets safety and building requirements.

Youdon'tneed extensive construction experience-we'relooking for someone who is willing to learn new skills, takes pride in their work, and enjoys working with their hands and as part of a team. This position works Monday -Thursday,7:00am-5:30pm, conducting business primarilyin person and on-site.

COMPENSATION:

Hiring Range:$29.76 -$37.20USD Annual

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assistwith the construction, maintenance, repair, and restoration of parks and parks facilities, infrastructure, and buildings. Remodel and repair historical buildings. Repair, replace, andmaintainweathered exterior and interior materials including log timbers. Maintain historical accuracy.

  • Assistwith the inspection of parks facilities,infrastructureand buildings toidentifypublic safety and maintenance issues. Conduct scheduled maintenance.

  • Assistwith reviewing plan documents, blueprints, and survey sites to ensure building codes and safety requirements are met. Provide input to materialsselection.

  • Train in researching costs for project supplies.

  • Assistwith and support the coordination of project activities with zoning, transportation, and building departments and contractors to ensure compliance with all applicable codes,regulationsand rules.

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • TwoYearsof work-related experience

  • Position allows for an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding construction and maintenance activities, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and handling materials, tools, and equipment.

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and direct sunlight.

  • Ability to work safely at heights and in confined or restricted spaces.

  • Ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT AND REQUIRED CERTIFICAITONS:

  • Pulmonary Function and Respirator Fit Test at hire

  • CPR Certification

  • First Aid Certification within 6 months of date of hire

  • Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10-hour safety card within 6 months of date of hire.

PREFERRED KNOWEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Preferred:Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Previousexperience in construction, maintenance, landscaping, parks, facilities, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with basic hand and power tools, construction materials, and equipment.

  • Experience working safely in an outdoor or physically demanding environment.

  • Basic understanding of construction methods, maintenance practices, and workplace safety.

  • Ability to read and follow basic plans, drawings, instructions, and specifications.

  • Strong work ethic and dependable attendance.

  • Willingness to learn new skills, tools, equipment, and work practices.

  • Positive, team-oriented attitude and ability to work effectively with others.

  • Strong communicationand active listening skills.

  • A valid Colorado driver's license is required for positions that drive on County Business in either a county or personal vehicle within30-daysof hire or beginning to serve as an intern or volunteer.
