Job description

Basalite Building Products, LLC is one of the largest manufacturers of concrete masonry products in the Western United States. Product lines include structural block, interlocking paving stones, engineered wall systems, retaining walls, ornamental and garden products, and a full range of sack goods. Salary Range $18-$20/hr. DOE 

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Yard Supervisor, this position supports the customer service and delivery departments and is responsible for loading/unloading, checking material in and out of the yard; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Acknowledge and assist all customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
  • Operate yard equipment, including forklifts and various other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Expedites the loading and unloading of customer and company vehicles.
  • Counts and reconciles incoming and outgoing materials (inventory).
  • Completes and returns paperwork (delivery notes, yard receivers, etc.) as soon as possible and meets with supervisor regularly to review.
  • Records discrepancies and/or damaged material on driver's paperwork which is signed by the driver.
  • Completes yard receiver at the time material is unloaded and verified. Counts and offloads materials before signing paperwork.
  • Verifies that daily check sheets are completed on assigned yard equipment.
  • Stacks building materials and maintains yard and assigned yard equipment in a safe and clean manner.
  • Develops a working knowledge of all products inventoried.
  • Perform yard security functions at the end of shift, ensure equipment is stored in designated areas, lock vehicles and remove keys. Make sure gates and warehouses are locked.
  • May be required to help out other departments when needed.
  • Participate in and follow the 5S program to expected levels.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous and unsafe conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.

QUAILFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties
  • Minimum 1 year of Forklift experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, saws, bag and wrap equipment and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written.
  • Basic mathematics and counting is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  • Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required. 
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
