Job description

The Video Computer Vision organization is working on exciting technologies for current, such as the Apple Vision Pro, and future Apple products. We are looking for highly skilled and passionate engineers to address challenging problems at the boundaries of human perception and machine intelligence. In this role, you will collaborate closely with experts from a wide range of backgrounds whose creativity and passion has already led to the development of groundbreaking algorithms and whose ongoing designs and explorations will shape the future of mixed reality redefining the way we interact with the physical and digital world.
Description
You will create computer vision algorithms and deliver technologies with applications to augmented reality and device localization that are impactful, meaningful, and influential. We work closely with Apple’s best-in-class designers to ensure the products we ship are more than technical demos - they resonate with users at a personal level. In this role you will be working on a wide range of responsibilities: core technology algorithm development in support of future user experiences; communicating with and supporting external teams that use our algorithms; supporting low-level, cross-platform efforts; participating in code reviews; and being a constant advocate within the team for high quality results.
Preferred Qualifications
MS or PhD in computer vision, machine learning, robotics, or related fields.
Excellent background in visual / inertial sensing and localization / mapping (SLAM).
Solid foundation in 3D geometric computer vision.
Strong programming and system building skills, as well as experience on turning concepts into robust and efficient algorithms able to deal with the complexity of the real world.
Experience in developing, training and tuning domain specific ML model related to computer vision.
Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
Excellent communication and experience working with multi-functional teams.
Curiosity and willingness to learn new things in order to improve the quality of their solutions.
Ability to make well-informed and practical decisions in a rapidly evolving environment.
Self-motivated with proven track record to optimally prioritize and deliver tasks on schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience.
Strong software engineering skills and programming in C++.
Familiarity with classical and machine learning based computer vision.
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $147,400 and $272,100, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
