Position Overview

The QA/QC Auditor is responsible for planning, designing, verifying locations, inspecting, or otherwise capturing information related to utility infrastructure. Work assignments involve applying routine procedures to solve common challenges. The ability to follow red lines and verify prints is essential to the function of this position. Prior experience utilizing OXC technology is encouraged. This role provides our utility clients with the services and solutions needed to manage their assets efficiently and effectively by performing the duties described. This entry-level position is an individual contributor role working in a field environment. This is a high travel in field position. 

Job Duties
  • Print Verification: Review and verify that field installations match engineering prints and redlines.

  • System Entry: Input audit data, track progress, and complete reporting inside the QCX system.

  • Field Audits: Inspect active fiber construction sites to ensure quality and compliance standards are met.

  • Issue Resolution: Work with crews to correct discrepancies between field work and engineering designs.

● Operate as a lone worker when required, demonstrating independence and self-sufficiency. 
● Fulfill weekly production targets to meet expectations and timelines. 
● Perform audits of existing utility infrastructure by visually identifying, inspecting, and recording information. 
● Operate hand-held computers, GPS units, cameras and/or other field technology. 
● Accurately record field observations. 
● Positively and effectively communicate with property owners and agencies to arrange for necessary access and work. 
● Drive, operate, and maintain a company vehicle.
● Read and follow maps.
● Review and/or correct data integrity errors within the Database.
● Comply with all regulations and meet requirements in order to complete work safely. 
● Collaborate with others.
● Report and respond timely and accurately to the supervisor. 
● Travel (75%-100%) for on-site job duties.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Experience: Previous experience in fiber optic construction, auditing, or OSP (Outside Plant) environments.

  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering prints/redlines, and experience working within the QCX tracking system.

  • Location/Travel: Must be based in or able to travel across Ohio and Michigan to support projects.

  • Driver's License: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Required: A high-school diploma or equivalent.
Required: Demonstrated proficiency in basic data entry. Must be willing to learn mapping collection software applications.
Required: Perform basic arithmetic computations.
Preferred: Prior electric utility or communications industry experience.
Preferred: Prior experience working outdoors.
