Job description

Audio Systems Engineer, Hearables – Google – Mountain View, CA.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a consumer hardware technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • Experience with standard audio measurement and analysis tools, (e.g., ACQUA, SoundCheck, Audio Precision, Audition, Matlab/Python).
  • Experience with hearable audio systems (e.g., acoustics, transducers, microphones, ANC, and digital signal processing).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP).
  • 7 years of experience with consumer hardware, producing new technology.
  • Experience in hearable audio system design, tuning and validation, including ANC, transparency and playback.
  • Experience in objective and subjective assessment of hearables audio quality and ANC/Transparency performance.
  • Experience with control theory and ANC.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Product, Acoustic, Algorithm, and Software teams to define and develop hearable audio systems and deliver solutions that meet key user experiences.
  • Own tuning, evaluation and debugging of hearable audio algorithms, including Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), transparency, and playback.
  • Be an expert in objective and subjective testing, develop tools, tuning strategies and automate new methodologies to launch hearable audio solutions.
  • Validate and debug audio system software, coordinate on algorithm enhancements with developers.
Compensation

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $126,000-$181,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
