Details
The Lake Tahoe Community College Information Technology department is hiring a student worker. To join our growing team, please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications.
Description
  • Event and Classroom Support: Set up, test, and tear down equipment such as projectors, screens, speakers, mixing boards, Wi-Fi clocks, and other AV equipment for live events and classroom lectures.
  • Technical Operations: Monitor sound and video feeds to ensure quality, manage audio, mixing, and operate lighting systems for presentations and performances.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide on-the-spot solutions for technical issues during events and perform basic troubleshooting for AV gear.
  • Maintenance and Inventory: Perform preventative maintenance (e.g., cleaning lenses, checking cables) and assist with organizing and maintaining inventory of AV equipment.
  • Customer Service: Act as the first point of contact for technical support requests, assisting faculty and clients with AV needs.
  • System Setup: Connect computers to projectors, set up video conferencing systems (e.g., Zoom, Teams, etc.), and ensure cabling and wiring.
  • Availability: Willingness to work a variable schedule for events.

Employment Standards
Education and Experience
  • Education: Currently enrolled as a student
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of or comfort with AV equipment (projectors, microphones, soundboards) and computer systems.
  • Experience: Previous related experience in AV, theater, computer networks, or IT is preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, utilize ladders up to ten feet, kneel, and lift, push, or pull equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Soft Skills: Punctuality, attention to detail, reliability, and strong customer service skills.
