As a Diesel Technician C (Entry-Level Technician) at Coastal Waste & Recycling, you'll begin your journey in Fleet Maintenance by working alongside experienced technicians who are committed to helping you grow. Through hands-on experience, training, and mentorship, you'll develop the skills needed to advance to a Diesel Technician B (Advanced Technician) and eventually a Diesel Technician A (Master Technician).

Your Role
As a Diesel Technician C (Entry-Level Technician), you'll assist with the inspection, maintenance, and repair of our heavy-duty trucks, refuse vehicles, and equipment while learning the fundamentals of diesel mechanics. Working alongside experienced technicians, you'll build the knowledge, confidence, and technical skills needed for a successful career in Fleet Maintenance.
What You'll Do
  • Assist with preventive maintenance on heavy-duty trucks, refuse vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Learn to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered equipment under the guidance of experienced technicians.
  • Assist with oil changes, lubrication, brake inspections, tire inspections, filter replacements, and scheduled maintenance services.
  • Learn to safely use hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and shop equipment.
  • Assist with documenting repair orders, inspections, maintenance records, and parts usage.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and demonstrate safe work practices at all times.
  • Participate in company training, certifications, and hands-on learning opportunities to continue developing your technical skills.
  • Work alongside Diesel Technician A (Master Technician)s and Diesel Technician B (Advanced Technician)s while learning the trade from experienced professionals.

What You'll Bring
  • Mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn.
  • One (1) year of mechanical experience, technical training, vocational education, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Willingness to build and maintain a professional tool set.
  • Technical school training, ASE certifications, Brake Certification, Class A CDL, or bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) skills are a plus.
