Position summary

The Temporary Law Student Recruiting Assistant will support the Law Student Recruiting team in our Dallas and Houston offices with the summer associate hiring process during the law student recruiting season. This position is based in the Dallas office. The person in this role will be required to be in the office 5 days a week. The anticipated duration of this temporary assignment is through March 2027, subject to business needs.

Position responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of law student and entry-level recruiting and hiring for the Dallas and Houston offices.
  • Support full cycle recruiting for law students and entry-level candidates, including soliciting feedback from interviewers and preparing candidate files.
  • Assist with onboarding entry-level and lateral associates, and off-track attorneys, including collaborating on orientation and integration of the same.
  • Help coordinate law student interview programs, sponsorship events, and other law school engagement opportunities.
  • Assist with law student interview programs and coordinate schedules and logistics, as well as prepare necessary documents.
  • Help plan Quarterly Associate Happy Hours, Welcome Receptions for new attorneys, and other office events while collaborating with the facilities department and vendors.
  • Maintain law student and entry-level hiring data, respond to law school statistic inquiries, design, and administer surveys, and provide data as needed.
  • Maintain candidate application information in recruitment database (viDesktop) and ensure accurate and timely entry of the same.
  • Provide support on special projects and administrative assignments as assigned.

Experience, skills, and qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1+ years of experience in a law firm or client service role preferred.
  • Prior recruiting experience is ideal; legal recruiting experience is preferred.
  • Experience working with an Applicant Tracking System is preferred.
  • Proficiency and experience with social media outlets such as LinkedIn is preferred.
  • Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team.
  • Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse group of internal and external clients, attorneys, and business professionals.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and sensitive situations with tact and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
