Position: Research Analyst
Department: AE Wealth Management
Reporting to: Director of Product Research and Strategy
Location: Lenexa, KS - Onsite
Overview:
Looking to expand your career in investment research? As a Research Analyst, you'll gain hands-on experience evaluating investment strategies, conducting due diligence, and supporting portfolio management decisions across a variety of asset classes and investment vehicles. Working closely with experienced investment professionals, you'll have the opportunity to expand your market knowledge, develop analytical and research skills, and contribute to investment decisions that support advisors and their clients.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in financial markets, a natural curiosity to learn, and a desire to grow their career within investment management. You'll play an important role in researching and monitoring investment strategies, building relationships with asset managers, and helping deliver the insights and information that support our investment platform.
What you'll do:
  • Conduct due diligence on investment strategies across a variety of asset classes and investment vehicles.
  • Research, analyze, and document findings to support investment recommendations and portfolio management decisions.
  • Monitor investment funds and strategies, maintaining current notes, updates, and supporting documentation.
  • Organize and maintain due diligence files and research materials to ensure consistency and accessibility across the team.
  • Assist with performance analysis, attribution reporting, and other strategy-related data and metrics.
  • Build relationships with asset managers and participate in meetings to gather updates and insights on investment strategies.
  • Prepare research summaries, presentations, and supporting materials for investment discussions and committee meetings.
  • Communicate investment strategy updates and key insights to internal stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Support the evaluation of new investment opportunities and proposed changes to investment models.
  • Stay informed on market trends, industry developments, and emerging investment strategies while contributing to special projects and other team initiatives as needed.

Experience you'll bring:
  • 1-3 years professional experience within wealth management, investment management, banking, or financial services.
  • Working knowledge of the financial services industry and investment products, including mutual funds, ETFs, private market funds, and other investment vehicles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex investment concepts into clear, actionable insights.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A naturally curious mindset with a passion for learning and staying informed on market trends and investment opportunities.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Bonus Points:
  • Experience using investment research platforms such as FactSet.
  • CFA designation or progress toward obtaining the CFA.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
